New York, New York Part II

Ok, I'm going to finally finish up the rest of my New York adventure times. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Imagining the life I could have if I lived in the city. Well, glorious New York, I will be back.. One day!

If you haven't seen Part I of my adventures in New York, you can find it here.

On day 3, we got up a bit later than usual because we were so pooped out from all the walking we did in the days since we arrived. We got to the metro station around noon and went to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). It is 6 stories, but some really beautiful pieces are hosted there. Van Gough, Monet, Andy Warhol, etc. Some pieces are really beautiful, but some I guess I'm not artsy fartsy enough to understand. Definitely an awesome museum, and it's probably the cleanest place I have been in New York to date. We stopped in one of the cafes to have a quick bite, but surprisingly the food was quite good.

After the MOMA we went next door to the St. Patricks Cathedral, which is absolutely breathtaking. The outside is gorgeous, and inside the stained glass and front display is beautiful. We accidently stepped in while there was a service and it was super awkward because I didn't know what to do. We just stood there for about 15 minutes because we weren't sure when the songs cut off and when we should make a dash to leave without attracting attention. You're not allowed to take pictures when there is a service going on, but I couldn't resist so I took some from the outside through the glass trying to be all ninja sneaky, but an old man saw me and shot me a dirty glance. I just want a picture to remember it forever ;_;.

The next day it was horribly rainy, but we went to 5th Ave and afterwards we headed to the New York Public Library (one of the places at the top of my touristy list to visit). Apart from being happy to finally be out of the rain, the library is drop. dead. gorgeous. The ceiling art is beautiful, and it's almost like being in a giant castle of books. Even though this was probably one of the coldest days while I was in New York, I was determined to get a flower gelato cone so we dragged our freezing asses over to Amorino. Delicious. But cold. But still delicious. For dinner we finally got a table at Ippudo after an hour and half wait.. at least we got in unlike a couple days prior when they turned us away because they said there would not be a table open for the rest of the day. The buns (which is like gua bao in Taiwan), is probably the best thing on the menu. We also had some unagi and ramen, but the spotlight is definitely on the pork belly buns! Thank god I can fufill my fix with The Chairman in SF.

On my last day, I only had until the afternoon before I had to head to the airport so I woke up bright and early and went to Lady M to pick up a cake to bring back for my family. I also had a slice of chocolate banana cake and it might be one of the best cakes I've ever had. It's like a good couple dozen layers of crepe with filling in between. The good thing is that it's not very sweet so I was able to finish my whole slice! I brought back a whole green tea cake for the family, which was KILLED. So good. Then off to Marc Jacobs which was quite far from the subway, but thankfully over the past week of training my ass to walk everywhere, I was ok! (I've unlearned all this now and have been driving everywhere again in California)

Thank you New York and hope I have good luck and wealth (?) apparently from standing in this giant bull's ass and touching it's giant golden balls.

In case you're wondering about the lack of pictures of myself being the vain human being that I am, I apparently have no skill against the wind in New York and lost completely. NY Wind 1, Elaine 0. orz

On the boat I took about 30 pictures, all turning out similar to this:

So sexy, I know.

I'm so excited for the holiday next weekend to possibly drop by Fanime to find a llama and some other fun activies! My dreams of catching up on sleep are never going to come true, but that's ok.

  21. Me too! NY as a whole is actually quite big, we mostly went to Manhattan and Queens everyday, so it's a shame! So much left untraveled. .

You take great pictures, you are really selling New York City. I don't live too far away but I don't go because driving in the city gives me anxiety. I really need to have one weekend of really experiencing New York City instead of the errands I do when I go.

I've never actually been or considered going to New York before and it looks like you had great time~~~ I live in the UK, so I can't exactly hop on a plane and get there, but I will defiantly try to go there some day.

Your photography skills are awesome! =) I've been doing it for a little while, I keep practicing and I'm not that good!
