*✦ May Favorites: Benefit Fake Up Concealer & YSL Rouge Volupte Lipsticks ✦*

I've been going through a ton of products, some which I am completely in love with at the moment. Some, not so much. I'm collecting my stash of things I don't like or products my skin refuses to cooperate with to go through them all together. Speaking of things that don't seem to want to work with my skin.. I recently had an allergic reaction to a new serum I bought. It's such a shame because I heard such great things about it, but my face and neck broke out in a huge itchy rash the day before memorial weekend. So unfortunate.. I even paid a visit to my dermatologist just to make sure it wasn't abnormal because it was so itchy and uncomfortable! My friend recommended Benadryl  which I made the mistake of not reading the back label before I took it, and was like "Oh tab.. Side effects include drowsiness?!" Before I knew it I was on the verge of falling asleep at 1:30PM at work. Fml.

But I wanted to show two products I've been using quite often now that are awesome!

First off is Benefit's Fake Up Concealer in (01) Light, which I have read some mixed reviews about, but I'm completely head over heels! It sports a lipstick twist-up tube with a hydrating ring and a concealing core. The outer ring is ultra-hydrating ready with vitamin e and apple seed extract. I used to switch between Amazing Cosmetics concealer and the Makeup Forever concealer palette,  but I think I've just found my favorite concealer! I've heard that it slides around and doesn't stay put, but luckily for me, it works extremely well with my skin. I have an oily t-zone but my cheeks and under eye area are extremely dry. I was about out of concealer and wanted to try a new one and really liked the concept of a hydrating concealer because I suffer from dryness under my eyes that turn into wrinkles after a long day out.

Pros:
  • Hydrating
  • Easy to blend
  • Long lasting
Cons:
  • May be pricy to some
  • May not suit oily skin tones
  • Only comes in 3 shades
It can be here purchased at Sephora for $24.

Next is two lipsticks I'm sure many have either seen or heard of before. The award-winning Rouge Volupte Lipsticks from Yves Saint Laurent. The first time I saw these I feel in love with the glamorous packaging and was pleased to know that the quality matched up to it's hefty price tag. My go-to colors for lip are always peachy or coral colors so I have 13 Peach Passion and 26 Tender Peach. Peach passion (13) is a bright peachy pink while Tender Peach (26) is a muted peach color. The are very opaque and come in a wide variety on colors and definitely long lasting. Even with it's high pigmentation, they have a glossy sheen, so pigmented they can cover any flaws on your lips.

Pros:
  • Large variety of colors
  • Opaque, true to color in tube
  • Moisturizing
  • Absolutely amazing packaging
Cons:
  • Very pricey
  • Colors often sold out depending on location
You can buy them here at Sephora for $34.

Top: Tender Peach 26, Bottom: Peach Passion 13

I would also like to thank the lovely ladies over at Pursiko. (mDawn and Xiang Jiao) for sending me some lovely goodies as one of the winners of their first giveaway. This is probably the first time in my entire life that I have won anything, especially something so luxurious! They have an amazing blog so please stop over and check it out if you haven't already!

A shot from last weekend on route to Fanime! I got another baby alpaca, which is so cute I can't even handle! Can you believe this is a wig? I got it in Taiwan, but it looks so natural! Only I'm not very experienced in wearing them so I kept tugging on it and it was quite embarassing..

  7. Me too! I thought Tender Peach was really bright already until I found Peach Passion, and it was like WHOA instant love with both of them!

    My wig kept slipping off maybe because my head is too big.. It was so awkward because someone was commenting they liked my hair then I was tugging on it on my head LOL. Fanime was alright, I think it was more fun when I was younger, but there's so many new young kids now! Like 13-15 year olds.. Ahh they are so lucky ;__;

  8. Yes me too! I'm glad I tried it out because it's so easy to blend *__*

  9. For sure it's practice. I have my own little way of putting on a wig so I will feel secure with it. Thanks for the link.

  12. They are.. Cry cry as I swipe ;__;. Actually I got one during 20% off Sephora sale , but the other I bought in Jp and it was sooo expensive cause of the exchange rate at the time!

    Thank you! I feel like my eyebrows always look awkward ;___;

  14. Don't be silly, I'd kill for straight brows. Arched ones are a pain in the ass to up-keep @___@ If I bought one, I'd treasure it always and probably never use it LOL I'm just weird like that.

anyways, that concealer looks REALLY interesting. haha but im scared that it wont work well with my skin. but i like the idea that its "moisturizing" since.. the spots that im usually covering up are very dry spots... hehehe i'll have to test it out the next time im in sephora!

  21. wow love the packaging of benefit's and of YSL's! *O* and you look so pretty~~ I envy you <3

  22. That wig looks so real! It could definitely pass off as your real hair.

I know how you feel about the dry under eye area @__@. Sometimes they get like that for me too, and then the concealer emphasizes it, so I look kind of haggard/older at the end of the day LOL.

Is the concealer buildable? Since it doesn't look as opaque as other concealers, probably due to the moisturizing ring.

  23. They are beautiful, I just love the packaging!

    I look super good!

We must be careful what we always apply!, Hope that everything returned to normal faster :)

I'm a really big fan from benefit products! I really love the packagings <3

  25. LOL it was alright, just a lot of young kids! The line for registration was an absolute nightmare though.. And I forgot my camera battery so it was kind of a fail on my part! I bought a alpaca plush and a boobie mousepad so maybe it was worth it though.. I only went for half a day! I don't know about AX yet.. Hehehe we'll see!

Yeah, I thought it would slide off and not work well either, but it actually works really well with my skin! ♡

  26. Thank you! Yes, it's definitely a staple now for me! ♡

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thank you!!! Such an honor coming from a cutie such as yourself! I've seen the booing one before, but it wasn't suitable for me!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thank you! Yes definitely do try it if you get the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes... All the glory *__* The YSL packaging is like 99% of the reason! Jk, haha it's also a great lippie! Aww, it's the hugeeee amount of makeup I was wearing that day!

  30. I know! Wigs are crazy! I just don't really know how to maintain them ;__; Or.. How to hide my real hair effectively! LOL

I have wear laugh line wrinkles after a long day! Under my eyes! It's so crazy if I don't moisturize it.. like I'm 80 years old.. orz. Yes it's definitely build-able! I think it covers pretty well, but I don't have dark circles so I'm not sure about that. I do have redness around my nose and it covers it well though!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thank you! Yes, being careful is a must! I was really disappointed because the serum seemed fairly popular, but my skin reacts to a lot of popular products!

  32. Oh I wish! Hahahaha, tricking people left and right with dem light angles! I bought it online from Mokoshop! http://tw.mall.yahoo.com/store/mokoshop

Their wigs are super cheap like $20-30 USD, but pretty good quality! I bought them when I went to Taiwan so they were delivered very quickly locally!

  33. The Benefit concealer sounds like it could be a good fit for me! I'll have to try out it. You look beautiful in the last picture. I've actually never worn any of my wigs outside because I'm scared it'll shift or fall off haha >_>

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow! That's so cheap for such a natural and high quality wig! :o Does this page ship internationally? I wanna buy a wig so bad too but I'm stuck here in my country with no asian wig shops ugh >u<

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not sure, but I don't think so! I'm sure there's some sort of shopping service, but I just bought it while I was in Taiwan..

Bah, I'm actually a noob with wigs so I can't recommend any international stores! Japanese ones are so high quality from blogs and videos I've seen, but so pricey!

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOL it totally happened to me. Someone was like "GURLLL I like your hair damn." just as I was pulling my wig forward >____> SO AWKWARD. I was just like "uhh.. thanks.."

I wish I can get the dreamy feel of your pics! I love the lighting on all your self pics!

  42. It's a bummer when you use products and it results in an allergic reaction! I had a crisis with my skin 2 years back and I was really upset but I quickly found my solution to fixing it. (thank goodness!!).
I've always wanted to try the new benefit concealer, and since your skin type sounds very similar to mine I might just go purchase it the next time I go out!
I also can't believe that's actually a wig you are wearing in the photo ,at the end of the post!! It's just so natural!!!! I think once you get the hang of wearing that wig people won't even realize at all!!!

  43. The Fake Up Concealer looks hydrating! :) I love how the lipsticks are quite forgiving on the lips. So far the only ones Ive tried that are great on me is Chanel Rouge Coco.

  44. Anything will look good on you, but I think the orange one will be too cute on you!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Aww, thank you! I've been seeing this tag around and it looks so fun *__*

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh what did you do to fix your reaction?? I've had it before to products that don't seemingly have similar properties so I'm not sure what I'm allergic too! A big no-no for me is Shiseido's White Lucent and Laura Mercier's primer. Such a shame because people rave about those products!

I read mixed reviews and ALMOST didn't get it, but I think my skin is dry enough that it is perfect!

    You look like a wig expert!!! Mine was seriously slipping and sliding I think I wore it wrong.. My friend asked me if I pinned it to my real hair and I was like YEAHHH I'M WEARING 2 WIG CAPS TOO BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT MY REAL HAIR ;___;

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think that 50% of me is just love with the package because I can pretend to be royal too! I haven't gotten a chance to try the Chanel rouges, but I hope to soon!

  48. My skin started to flake and I use my usual skincare products but nothing helped and I had no idea why my skin reacted that way too!. I was really sad but then I fixed my skin problem by using bio oil because I had it lying around in my house to use on my scars and I read that it can hydrate your skin and it was natural so I decided to give it a go. In a few days I saw amazing results and within around 2 weeks my skin was pretty much all good! <3
I have the review here if you're interested: http://miss-sennnaa.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/review-bio-oil-how-it-saved-my-skin.html

2 WIG CAPS!!! and it still slips off?? Mine use to slip off until I started pinning the wig to my actual hair and I can do the rocker head shake and it won't fall off at all!! Maybe use more pins???? And tie you hair up then put the wig caps on???
Let me know if that works for you~
